Shopping for trousers can be quite an adventure. Finding the perfect fit is not always is easy, and can take time. When you find the good option for you, it is often so, that you want to select the same model next time, to avoid all the trouble. In this blogpost you can find some practical tips on how to find the perfect pair, and how to avoid mistake purchases.

1. Avoid buying online if you never tried the model and size on

Running our own webshop, this is not something that we like to say. But buying trousers online, without ever trying them on, is a risky deal. Every fit is different, all brands sizes are different, there is fabrics with stretch and without... If you did not have the chance to try the model on before ordering, be careful, at least check how you can exchange for a different size or model, and which are the costs for the client. Visit the store to try the trousers if at all possible.

However if you already have the model and or have tried it before, online shopping should be a safe option. Ordering a second version of your favourite pants can be a clever buy, as you know you have been happy with the fit.

If you order online and have a bad fit, remember to return the item on time, do not leave it linger until the window for exchange is over.

2. Be not afraid to have the trousers altered

Often you have to have the trousers altered to gain the perfect fit. If the trousers are too long, but are otherwise very good, just take them to the tailor straight away. It is very common that the length is not perfect. And only in jeans you can find different lengths. The cost is normally something between €10-€20, and you will have a perfect fit after the alteration.

3. Find some brands which make trousers which fit

If you need longer trousers, try to find brands which are specialised in longer fits, you will see how the brands differ here. The same goes with shorter fits, bigger sizes etc. When you find the brand which works for you, hold on to it in the future. In many stores, like at Supergoods, you can order extra sizes, colours and models if there is no option in stock at the moment.

4. Get personal advice, shop outside the rush hour

It tends to be busy at the stores on Saturdays, especially in the afternoons. When you really need to try several sizes and fits on, you could opt to go shopping during the weekdays, to get more help from the staff, and to be able to fit as much as needed with out any need to rush. You can even book a personal advice session in our store, to guarantee for extra attention and no rush.

5. Get inspired, make a wishlist

Get orientated before shopping by thinking what you wear a lot, what new you would like to fit, which colours and fabrics you would like, what fits your wardrobe best. This way you will spare time in the stores, and can directly orientate according to your wishlist. To save time, you can share your wishlist with the personnel at the store, so they can help you to find what you are looking for.
