PEOPLE TREE Lulu skirt
Made by Creative Handicrafts in India, a social enterprise working to empower disadvantaged women of the slum communities of Mumbai, India. Tailors at Creative Handicrafts produce a gorgeous range of cotton garments for People Tree.
People tree provides exclusive fashion while at the same time they work deep down through the roots, improving the lives and environment of the artisans and farmers in developing countries who work to produce it. People tree works closely with 50 Fair Trade groups in 15 countries. This way, the company can bring benefits to people and the planet at as many steps of the production process as possible - growing cotton, weaving, dyeing, embroidery, stitching etc.
The label also works hard to ensure that they pioneer ecologically sound methods of production and minimise environmental impact. Not only is most of the cotton they use certified organic and Fairtrade, all of the clothes are dyed using safe and natural dyes. And the label sources as many products as possible locally, choosing natural and recycled products over toxic, synthetic and non-biodegradable materials.
